Organic Food Has So Much More To Offer
One of the most widely reported claims about organic food (Including both meat and veg) is that it tastes much better than its non-organic counterpart. This certainly isn’t surprising; nothing nasty is added to organic food, whilst in non-organic food plenty of nasties are! It is however difficult to measure taste levels as everybody’s pallet is different, making any information gained from studies unreliable. An argument towards organic food tasting better than non organic food is the fact that professional chefs and restaurants prefer to have organic food on their own menu. Not only does organic food taste better, it is also a much healthier option. Eating organically eliminates any pesticides and insecticides which are normally added to food during the growing process. Organically kept animals aren’t filled with medication which can enter the food chain and be consumed by ourselves. Research has suggested that the extensive use of chemicals in consumables is linked to health problems in adults and can also interrupt healthy development of children.
Organic food also makes a brilliant choice if you are an individual who cares about the environment. Organic food production produces food whilst retaining the nature’s ecological balance, whilst intensive farming often damages soil fertility. - Organic food does not contain any genetically modified ingredients, seeing as though the effects of GM foods in the food chain are unknown; this can only be a good thing!
It isn’t only humans and wildlife which benefits from organic farming methods. The farm animals raised organically are not exposed to the terrible living conditions which intensively reared farm animals are. Intensively reared animals often live in tiny spaces in cramped conditions, conditions which often lead to illness and discomfort.
