Penlanole (‘the head of the bright sunny bank’) is a 40-acre family-run organic smallholding in Radnorshire’s Wye Valley. The land is designated as a Private Nature Reserve producing lamb, beef, pork and apple juice, the latter coming from an eighty year old orchard.

Organic Pigs at Penlanole FarmPenlanole supply Graig Farm with pigs which are reared on the farm and use traditional British breeds such as Saddleback.

Philip and Sue Bowen who run the farm for Sue’s 93 year old mother are both from a theatre background. The farm is used as a venue for filming Shakespeare’s plays in British Sign Language and hosting Summer Schools.

In September each year the orchard will be open for the annual ‘Entertainment under the Apples’ a festival of music and performing arts.
