Organic Welsh Mountain Lamb - Rearing

This seasonal delicacy is full of flavours from the wild herbs on which the animals graze. Organic Welsh Mountain Lamb is a speciality of Graig Farm, and a complement to our Welsh Mountain Mutton range.

Welsh Mountain lamb is exclusively from pure-bred animals from the upland breeds native to Wales, such as Welsh Mountain, Welsh Speckleface, Beulah, etc. These breeds are well adapted to the often harsh environmental conditions found in the Welsh hills, where other breeds of sheep would not survive. The animals are born and bred on organic upland farms in Wales, and mature slowly on their diet of grasses and herbs of the uplands, and maybe home-produced silage later on.

The sheep are smaller than normal breeds, and as a result, the various joints of meat may be up to 30% smaller.
