Penantigi is a family run hill farm on the edge of Snowdonia National Park. It has a long history of sheep farming within the Hughes family.

The farm consists of 365 hectares (940 acres) of organic mountainside grazing, with 1000 ewes and 20 Hereford cross beef cattle.Penantigi Farm

Following a birthday present of Tamworth sows to the Hughes's youngest son, Carwyn, a new venture was born - pig farming! To date they have three Tamworth sows and three Saddlebacks.

Roaming the hills are two Welsh Cob mares.

The farm is in its eighth year of a conservation scheme, which has allowed the of stone wall boundaries, the replanting of hedges, and the development of a native hardwood coppice.

A few years ago the farm also diversified into Dwr Cerist, a natural mineral water, which is now run by Wyn's sister.

Wyn looks to the future when he says "Caring and maintaining the farm in the new millennium has had its ups and downs. Hopefully the younger generation of Hughes' will enable this beautiful area to flourish and develop into the next."
