Llwynmelyn Farm
near Llandrindod Wells, Powys

Miah and Sheila describe their farm:
Llwynmelyn is a family farm run by Miah and Sheila Lewis and their sons Howard and Richard.
The farm is in mid-Wales in the old County of Radnorshire (now part of Powys). It consists of some 400 acres between the villages of Crossgates and Penybont, and is divided by the A44.
It is a livestock farm, rearing both cattle and sheep. The cows are Welsh Black crossed with Limosin. We rear the calves, which we either sell as stores (not yet fat) for someone else to fatten, or we fatten them ourselves, depending on the market trends.
The sheep are in three groups Texel crossed with Mule, Mules and a small flock of pure Texels. We keep the replacement young females every year, and the rest are reared for fattening for meat production.
