Marion Hadaway describes her farm:
TyCwm Farm is a hill farm of about 28 hectares plus 9 of woodland situated in a small fold in the hills between Aberaeron and Tregaron in Ceredigion. Our land is surrounded by streams and woodlands and adjoins the large wooded Gwenffrwyth Valley that runs up the Cwm and which is know for its wide biodiversity. From its highest point we can see across to the Cambrian Mountains.

We have farmed Tyn Cwm organically since 1994 and during that time have planted about five hectares of woodland and hedges including a green road. We have also steadily improved our grassland through planting clover-rich leys.
We have also worked to improve the quality of our small herd of 12 pedigree Welsh Black breeding cattle through our choice of bulls and are now able to raise the male offspring to be ready for slaughter by 30 months fed almost entirely on grass and silage.
For the last two years, we have been able to send the herd to the nearby mountain for summer grazing and this has meant that we have been able to make plenty of silage in these last two rather difficult summers
