John & Moira Deakins
Near Presteigne, Powys
The Deakins' farm is in the glorious setting of the Lugg Valley on the Welsh side of the Wales/England border. Indeed the ancient boundary of Offa's Dyke runs through the farm. It is less than 10 miles from Graig Farm.
John has lived on the farm all his life, and has worked it for more than 35 years, since the age of 14.
He farms 75 hectares with 32 suckler cows and 250 breeding ewes.
John has won several prizes for his home-bred livestock atlocal market. He achieved organic status on the farm on his 50th birthday in April 2001.
