Holme Lacy Estate

Pound Farm, Holme Lacy College

Hereford HR2 6LL

Holme Lacy Estate specialises in producing the finest quality beef and lamb from its five hundred acre organic farm on the banks of the River Wye just south of Hereford.

The ancient Holme Lacy deer parkThe Holme Lacy Estate dates back a thousand years; the home of the Scudamore family, it includes a medieval deer park with spectacular veteran oak trees, fish ponds and 18th C farm buildings and the land surrounds the 17th C Holme Lacy House Hotel. With help from the Countryside Stewardship Scheme we are now restoring the Park and enhancing a farm of exceptional wildlife interest; bats and otters, unique insects, barn owls and deer in the fields, hedgerows, ancient pastures, woods, wetlands and of course the Wye itself. We welcome visitors through the numerous footpaths and recently created tracks for walkers, riders and cyclists.

The Estate is part of Carrot – an innovative programme supporting the development of a more sustainable Herefordshire – and PGC Holme Lacy College, which offers a range of countryside courses including a Masters Course in Sustainable Land Management. Look us up on www.projectcarrot.org

On the farm we are particularly concerned with producing quality food for healthy diets.

The Holme Lacy Herd of pedigree HerefordsThis commercial organic farm produces wheat for bread making, beans and barley for animal feed, cider apples and potatoes. The award winning Holme Lacy Herd of forty pedigree Hereford cattle produces prime beef and breeding stock. Hereford beef, grass fed and finished slowly in a stress free environment produces meat that is healthier for you and is renowned worldwide for its flavour. The four hundred Lleyn and crossbred ewes lamb late in the spring so the lambs are always outside, medicines are never used routinely and herbal pastures contribute to quality lamb from the river meadows and park land.
