Additive-free Goat - Rearing

"When sea voyages are so stormy as to kill geese, ducks, fowls and almost pigs, the goats are well and lively - when a dog of no kind can keep the deck a minute, a goat will skip and leap about on it as bold as brass."

William Cobbett -1810

Goat Meat

Goat is a very under-rated meat in the UK, yet it is tasty and low in fat.

The goats which we supply have been reared on a variety of local farms, and are of various breeds. Full details of the breed and farm are recorded on the label which is to be found on each pack of meat. See here for details of our unique traceability system.

Whilst the conditions in which the goats are kept are at, or very near to the standards required to be organic, because the farms are often small, the cost of inspection make it just not worth while to register the farm as organic. The goats are kept on pasture, similarly to sheep, although may be housed in winter.
